Herbert von Karajan, Music Director of the Berlin Philharmonic from 1956 until his death in 1989, is one of the pre-eminent musical figures of the 20th century. He conducted some of the most technically precise, luxurious sounding recordings in all of classical music.

The Karajan Legacy film series, documenting many of these definitive performances, were directed by Karajan and are among his only digital recordings. The release of these films on DVD brings the superb artistry of this man to fuller expression than ever before. All titles feature interactive menus, 2-channel PCM stereo, Dolby Digital Stereo, liner notes and biography in English, German and French.

Recorded at the Grosser Musikvereinsaal in Vienna on June 6 and 13, 1984, Herbert von Karajan conducts the Vienna Philharmonic for Giuseppe Verdi's Requiem. The performance features Anna Tomowa-Sintow, José Carreras, José Van Dam and Agnes Baltsa.
