"This release establishes Perahia as one of the very great Bach players of our time. It's difficult to imagine how it could significantly be improved on. In beauty and variety of tone, in its perfectly balanced combination of the penetratingly analytical, the deeply personal and the wholly unmannered, it's likely to remain unrivaled."
 BBC Music Magazine

"From the beginning of his career, Perahia has been an artist whose capacity to plumb the heart of what he plays is a continual inspiration. In concert, in recording, he sounds eternally fresh and spontaneous, making you rethink even the old chestnuts of the keyboard repertoire."

Murray Perahia's recent world tour was a thrilling return for a great artist. Having finally fully recovered after years of struggling with a recurring thumb injury, he has not only recaptured every bit of interpretive brilliance he was known for, but has also added the wisdom and depth of years of reflection and musical study.

The response to Mr. Perahia's recording of the works of Handel and Scarlatti (SK 62785) has been overwhelmingly enthusiastic worldwide. Because he had never recorded baroque works before, the Handel/Scarlatti recording is also a watershed event in his career.

J.S. Bach: English Suites Nos.1, 3 and 6 continues Perahia's exploration of great baroque keyboard works. The remaining English Suites (SK 60277) were released in January, 1999.
