For "Melody" Olga Scheps compiled her favourite melodies from Bach to Aphex Twin and surprises her audience with both, very famous as well as rather unknown pieces out of four centuries of piano music. The album includes world premiere recordings of new compositions by Rammstein producer Sven Helbig, Vivan and Ketan Bhatti and Grammy-winning composer / pianist Chilly Gonzales.
"Melody" is a selection of simply beautiful piano music for both classical music experts and fans of relaxing music. The album features Edward Grieg's rather unknown piece "Melody" or a piano adaptation of Christoph W. Gluck's opera "Orfeo et Eurydice" as well as some of the most famous classical melodies, such as Beethoven's "For Elise", Chopin's Nocturne op. 9 or Ludovico Einaudi's "Una Mattina".
"Avril 14th" by Aphex Twin is considered a genre-defining work by young composer-pianists such as Nils Frahm or Olafur Arnalds. "Olga Gigue" is a piece dedicated to Olga Scheps and written by Grammy-winning composer and pianist Chilly Gonzales. Rammstein producer Sven Helbig also wrote a new piano tune for her. A highlight of the album is the re-work of Mussorgsky's Promenade No. 1 by Berlin-based composers Vivan and Ketan Bhatti, who are famous for their work with urban dance group Flying Steps. The recording is also part of the soundtrack to the new show "Flying Pictures" which premieres in Berlin on April 3.
