14th January 2022, Berlin – Sony Classical is delighted to announce a significant extension for several years to come of Sony Classical’s prestigious contract with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra for the world famous and eagerly-anticipated New Year’s Concert.
Conducted this year by Daniel Barenboim, the annual concert showcasing the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra is released internationally by Sony Classical across all formats – Digital, CD, Vinyl, DVD and Blu-ray. This notable contract extension also applies to the popular annual Summer Night Concert from the Schönbrunn Palace gardens, also released by Sony Classical in digital and physical formats.
Per Hauber, President Sony Classical, noted: “The close partnership with the Vienna Philharmonic, which has grown over the years, is a great honor for our label and the renewal of the contract for many more years is a wonderful confirmation of our successful cooperation.
