Legendary pianist Vladimir Horowitz was considered a "magician" at the piano and one of the greatest musicians of the 20th century. This 3CD edition presents all his studio recordings of works by Russian composer Alexander Scriabin (1872-1915) for RCA Victor and Columbia, made between 1950 and 1976. Horowitz is still considered one of the finest interpreters of Scriabin's music. He himself was fascinated by the latter's forward-looking, mystical music, which has its origins in the late Romantic style of Chopin, Liszt and also Schumann. The edition contains the piano sonatas 3, 5 & 9 as well as excerpts from his Préludes, Études and Poèmes. All recordings have been remastered based on the best available audio sources.
