Messiaen: Quatuor pour la fin du temps (Quartet for the End of Time)

Martin Fröst presents together with Janine Jansen, Lucas Debargue and Torleif Thedéen "Quartet for the End of Time", Olivier Messiaen's most original and poignant chamber work. Messiaen created Quartet for the End of Time in a prisoner-of-war camp in 1941. The premiere took place at the camp in front of an audience of 400 prisoners and guards. Messiaen a devout catholic based the work on the language and imagery of the Apocalypse where time is forever abolished.
