Scott Joplin - The Complete Works For Piano

Artists

In 1975, jazz pianist Dick Hyman made his definitive recording of all the piano works of ragtime legend Scott Joplin (1867 or 1868-1917) for RCA. Joplin's catchy tunes, which also have a certain cunning, had shortly before become better known through the film "The Sting" with Paul Newman and Robert Redford, in which the title "The Entertainer" became cult. Now the complete recording appears for the first time, brand new remastered, complete on 3 CDs. Dick Hyman, who himself performed with legends such as Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, and Benny Goodman, also plays lesser-known marches and waltzes by Scott Joplin, as well as twelve illuminating improvisations on Joplin themes that testify to his influence on jazz harmonies and melodies.
