Born in France in 1934, Philippe Entremont has been a leading performer for well over half a century.
He initially established himself as a pianist, winning the Queen Elisabeth Competition in 1952 and dazzling listeners with his performances and recordings of Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, Saint-Saëns and others. For some concertos he conducts from the piano, and he has conducted orchestras since the 1970s as well.
